About Scott Maichel
Scott Maichel is the Co-Founder of AmCheck’s San Diego office, a company that specializes in workforce management solutions. AmCheck strives to help businesses maximize their resources and minimize their costs through their innovative and proprietary services.
A past student at Northern Illinois University (NIU), Scott advocates for the accessibility of higher education and the study of Human Resources. He believes in breaking down the barriers that prevent students from reaching their full potential.
Education & Background
Scott Maichel obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communications from Northern Illinois University in 1992. He has had an entrepreneurial spirit since he started his own business while in college. Throughout college, his businesses encompassed house painting, cutting lawns, and a coupon book business. This invaluable experience of owning a business paved the way for Scott to begin his career after graduation.
After graduating from NUI, Scott started his career in sales at Automatic Data Processing (ADP). He spent the next 10 years advancing his career across several divisions of ADP. While at ADP, Scott won numerous performance awards. One year, he won an award for being ADP’s #1 salesperson in the U.S.
Career at AmCheck
After ending a successful 10-year career at ADP, Scott Maichel joined some friends by purchasing an equity share in AmCheck in 2005, which was at the time, a small independent payroll company. Today, AmCheck has grown to become one of the largest privately held payroll companies in the U.S.
Scott Maichel always had a desire to help other people which is why he chose to become an entrepreneur. By owning his own business, he realized he could make a more positive impact with his clients. Scott chose to focus on providing his clients with a highly personalized service experience, which has paid great dividends.
Scott loves to volunteer his time with multiple fundraising initiatives for individuals with special needs, in addition to his post-secondary scholarship program. Some of these include Autism Speaks, The Autism Walk, and Banding Together. His volunteer duties consist of working with special needs children and adults.
